BMR received multiple complaints from players who were offered by BetUK a bonus of £25 if they bet £100 on Euro 2008 to later find out the bonus had been denied by management which deemed the players to be non-recreational gamblers.
Apparently BetUK considered OK to send the bonus offer to its whole database, including players who were not entitled to receive it, since the mailout advertised a second promotion who had no restrictions (I guess sending two separate e-mail batches was too complicate).
What I found most interesting though is BetUK\’s definition of recreational gambling: “A recreational gambler is a player that plays for the enjoyment of placing bets upon an event, rather than to claim bonuses or for profit. The profit and bonuses the player may receive are an extra rather than the incentive to place bets in the first place.”
The enjoyment of placing bets?
