The sale for a consideration of £15 million is being made with a view to counter likely action by the Office of Fair Trading, which is looking into the disposal of Stanleybet\’s estate of 624 betting shops to determine how it will affect local competition.
“A number of the shops are in areas of the country where we are not currently represented, and this is a great opportunity for the Tote to reach a whole new customer base,” said Tote Chief Executive Trevor Beaumont.
