A procedural move has killed the most recent effort to restrict internet gambling in the US by cutting off its funding sources.
Sen. Jonh Kyl attempted to attach language that restricts internet gambling to an annual spending bill but a Democrat objected to attaching an unrelated matter to the spending measure under consideration.
The development is the latest blow for Mr Kyl, who has been trying to pass laws to stop the spread of internet betting every year for the past seven years. Kyl\’s proposal would require banks and credit card companies to block payments to internet gambling sites.
“We will proceed with this, it will become law at some point at some time,” the Arizona Republican said on the Senate floor. “There should be no reason why we can\’t move forward on this.”
