Though mobile phones only account for 1 per cent of total gambling revenues, usage has increased 29% per year according to a report by Global Betting and Gaming Consultants.
GBGC believe better phones as well as clever innovations and functionalities will make mobile phone gambling easier to operate. The pre-eminent consultancy to the gambling industry predict the market will grow 26% per year through 2012 with sports betting and in particular real time betting attracting the most interest.
In other news, Global Betting and Gaming Consultants announced to have moved its head quarters to the Isle of Man. GBGC’s lead partner Warwick Bartlett commented: “This reflects our need to be closer to our customers so that we can meet their needs in a timely fashion. More than 60% of our revenue comes from outside the UK and we felt a need to position ourselves in a way that serves our customers best. We looked at various other jurisdictions and found that the Isle of Man suited us best. The communications are excellent and the Manx government has a positive attitude to businesses setting up here.”
