According to 2004 statistics, the game run by Greece\’s betting monopoly OPAP, had an estimated turnover of EUR 1.6 billion, compared to EUR 1.4 billion for the equivalent game in the UK and EUR 1.2 billion in Italy.
Although 95 per cent of Pame Stihima bets are still on soccer games, OPAP added bets on basketball, volleyball, racing, handball and more recently the Oscar awards and the Winter Olympics.
