The Woodland Hills-based company has announced to have shattered all previous records for betting volume on Derby Day, with nearly $5.6 million in wagers processed, a 34% increase over 2005, and $1.7m in customer deposits on race day, 23% more than a year earlier.
Youbet\’s subsidiaries IRG and United Tote handled respectively $4.3 million in live operator assisted wagers, up 280% over the year before, and $175.0 million in on-track bets, up 14% compared to 2005.
“Our race day performance — online and in our new live operator and totalizator channels — was extraordinary,” said Youbet CEO Charles F. Champion. “Our online product attracted thousands of new customers and millions of additional handle. Our marketing initiatives delivered exceptionally strong results as younger audiences (ages 21-40), in particular, found the online wagering environment to their liking. Our phone wagering spiked and United Tote processed the highest single day of handle in the history of U.S. horse racing. It was a very satisfying day for each of our companies.”
