Antigua\’s Minister of Finance and Economy, Dr. Errol Cort, said to be concerned with the legislation approved by the US House Judiciary Committee, which may be expressly contrary to the rulings and recommendations of the WTO\’s Dispute Settlement Body.

John Ashe, Antigua Ambassador to the WTO, informed James Sensenbrenner, Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, that Minister Cort remains available to meet with the members of the committee to discuss the impact of the legislation on the WTO dispute.

Earlier in April, Dr. Cort accused the United States Government of employing “delaying tactics” and said the Antigua Government remained determined to pursue its case against the US, despite Peter Allgeier, US Ambassador to the WTO, alleged that his country was already in compliance with the WTO trade policies in the areas addressed by the WTO Dispute Settlement Body.
