Since the acquisition of MrBookmaker, Unibet has used two different platforms for online poker. With effect from September 2006, Unibet\’s poker offering will be streamlined and consolidated on the technological platform of Microgaming, while the contract with B2B Poker will be terminated.
A single platform means safer and more cost-effective development and maintenance. The Microgaming platform also offers significantly better potential for the development of more games in the future.
“All players from 21 countries will now have the possibility to challenge each other and we can improve our offer of poker and create attractive tournaments and more playable tables” said Petter Nylander, CEO of Unibet.
Also this week, Microgaming announced that it has signed BetOnBet, the online betting exchange, to its Microgaming Poker Network. BetOnBet has cited the acquisition of its previous network, Ongame, by competitor BetandWin as one of its main reasons for the move.
Stian Hornsletten, Managing Director of BetOnBet, said: “We are very pleased to join the Microgaming poker network. We see Microgaming as the leading software provider within the gaming industry. The Microgaming Poker network is growing rapidly and we believe this is a strategic move for the future. We believe our customers will see the benefits of this in the time to come. To join a network where all the operators are playing by the same rules and get the releases at the same time is something we are looking very much forward to.”
Roger Raatgever, CEO of Microgaming, commented: “Following its decision to leave Ongame, we are delighted to be able to announce that BetOnBet has joined our industry leading poker network. We believe that Microgaming can not only offer operators market leading software and support, but also the independence that clearly BetOnBet felt they could not receive following the acquisition of Ongame by BETandWIN. This follows a number of recent additions to our rapidly expanding poker network.”
