According to the Observer, institutional shareholders of the online bookmaker are considering taking legal action against Baker Tilly and Evolution Securities, the two companies who handled the BetonSports\’ float.
Investors are unhappy that they were not made aware of the shady past of BetonSports founder Gary Kaplan at the time the company listed two years ago.
BetonSports insisted that Kaplan was not a director of the company and the two advisors said they supplied all the information required and that the market authorities were satisfied with the level of disclosure.
One of the biggest institutional shareholders in BetonSports told the Observer: “What\’s known now should have been known then. It\’s a disgraceful situation that\’s hard to explain away but individually it will be hard to get anywhere. Collectively, it\’s possible.”
Meanwhile, Bettingmarket.com reports that hackers targeted Formoapuestas, an Argetinian sports betting website owned by BetonSports, taking down the sportsbook and replacing it with a page bearing the slogan; “BOS SUCKS PAY YOUR CUSTOMERS AND EMPLOYEES, or you will be held accountable.”
