Peter Dicks, the Non-Executive Chairman of Sportingbet, was granted $50,000 bail by New York Supreme Court Justice John Latella.

Justice Latella ordered him to surrender his British passport and to remain in the New York area as he awaits a September 14 hearing on whether he should be extradited to Louisiana on charges of operating an internet gambling business.

The gaming division of the Louisiana State Police has made clear that the arrest of Dicks relates to an investigation into the activities of Sportingbet that began in January and that further warrants have been issued against other executives at the online betting firm.

Dicks\’ lawyer, Peter Neiman, said he will continue to challenge extradition on the grounds that Dicks is a non-executive chairman and does not run the company and that the Louisiana authorities had not given either him or the company any warning.
