The Swedish betting operator, which runs Betsson Sport, Betsson Exchange, Betsson Casino, Betsson Poker as well as Casino Euro, Cherry Casino and Casino Domain, increased its third quarter revenues by 55% to SEK 70.4m. For the nine-month period to September, the revenues doubled to SEK 201.1m.
During the third quarter, Betsson Online turned the previous quarter’s loss to an operating profit of SEK 6.9m. The negative result during the second quarter was due to an increase in marketing costs and to many favourites winning in the soccer World Championship. Operating profits for the interim period amounted to SEK 3.1m, down from SEK 8.8m last year.
The number of registered customers on Betsson.com increased by 16% to 404,000, while the number of active customers rose by 4% to 51,000. The number of active players within Betsson Sport amounted to 21,600 compared to 16,400 in the previous quarter. The 32% growth can be ascribed to the successful launch of Betsson\’s own sports wagering system. The number of players at the betting exchange decreased during the quarter by 7% to 4,800.
Although Betsson Online has not issued a forecast for the full year 2006, the online betting firm is expected to close the year with over SEK 270m in revenues.
