The BNP Paribas Masters gets underway this Monday with the first matches of the main draw taking place. Bookmakers Review breaks down the fixtures below and lists the best available odds from green-listed bookmakers.
Paire vs. Lorenzi
Looking now to the matches scheduled for this Monday in Paris, the contest between Benoit Paire and Paolo Lorenzi clearly deserves a closer look.
Known as one of the most talented players on the ATP World Tour, Paire is also famous for his inconsistency. It’s never easy to predict what Benoit is going to do on court but one thing is certain, in a good day Paire can create problems to anyone. Playing on French soil is also a positive thing for Paire with a 59.52% winning record while his overall record is only 54.39%.
At the age of 34, Lorenzi is going through the best moment on his career. After winning his first ATP title a few months ago in Kitzbühel, the Italian also secured his career high ranking last month as world no.35. Even though clay is clearly Paolo’s favourite surface, the Italian is also a very competitive player on other game conditions.
These two players are no strangers with Lorenzi winning their previous two encounters. Despite Paolo’s lead on the h2h, Paire is clearly the better player among the two but as we mentioned before, it’s hard to trust on Benoit to perform at a consistent level. The bookmakers think the same, pricing Paire as slight favourite at 79/100 at Pinnacle while Coral offers 11/10 for Lorenzi’s triumph. Although we believe in Paire’s victory, this match should go to distance. Therefore, the Over 23 at 113/100 at Pinnacle is definitely the best betting approach for this contest.
Haase vs. Verdasco
A very interesting contest is expected with Robin Haase and Fernando Verdasco fighting for a place in the 2nd round.
It hasn’t been an easy year for Verdasco with the former world no.7 winning only one of his last eight matches. Despite his undeniable quality, Fernando is far from the player he used to be. However, Verdasco is still a very dangerous player as his triumph over Rafael Nadal earlier this year at the Australian Open with 90 winners is a great example of that. This is already Fernando’s 13th consecutive appearance on this event’s main draw with the 3rd round as his best result in 2014.
Due to his low ranking, Haase had to play the qualifying stage in Paris. Although this might seem a negative thing, it’s usually an advantage for the players who make it into the main draw since they are already accustomed to the game conditions. Known for his powerful serve, Haase fired an average of 0.75 aces per service game on the qualifying, winning also 95.00% of his service games.
This will be the 6th career meeting between these two players with Haase leading on the h2h by 3 – 2.
Looking to their previous matches, this is the lowest price ever on the Dutch with Marathonbet offering 57/50 for Haase’s victory while Verdasco is available at 4/5 at William Hill. However, it’s still possible to find some value on Robin’s odds after his high-quality performances in the qualifying. With this in mind, our advice is for you to take advantage of Haase’s odds to secure a place in the following round.
