British bookmaker William Hill has been recipient of a sophisticated DDoS attack for the previous week causing scores of punters to be unable to log in and place a bet.

A DDoS or distributed denial of service attack is a cyber attack where thousands of requests are sent to a site\’s web server simultaneously in an attempt to overwhelm the website and bring it off-line.

Will Hill has tweeted many updates to players and apologised for the downtime. It has been acknowledged that uptime is intermittent and players in certain regions may be more likely to be affected by the interruption in service.

Bookmakers Review will monitor the situation.
