Middlesbrough vs. Arsenal: Goals Look On The Cards

Two Premier League strugglers are up against each other in the Monday night football and both are in desperate need of the points when Arsenal make the long trip to the north of the Riverside to face Middlesbrough.

Middlesbrough looks all put doomed to the Championship next season after they\’ve failed to win in their last seven matches and after just one victory in their last 11 which was against League One Oxford in the FA Cup.

The Gunners\’ are in equally shocking form with SEVEN defeats in their last 12 with their only wins in that period against Hull, Sutton, Lincoln and West Ham.

Last weeks 3-0 defeat at Crystal Palace was Arsene Wenger\’s lowest moment in charge at The Emirates and with five defeats in their last six away games and the only win in that period at non-league Sutton United they can\’t be backed at odds-on quotes as short as 1.50 with William Hills for the win.

The Arsenal players want out and the fans want the manager gone and it showed in their display at Selhurst Park, but Middlesbrough are a very poor side and they can\’t be trusted either even at odds of 6.50 for a much-needed win.

The game looks up for Middlesbrough in the Premier League, even if they do get the win in this one and the goal shy Riversiders\’, who\’ve failed to score in three of their last four home Premier League games, might be let off the shackles by new manager Steve Agnew against a very leaky Arsenal side.

Arsenal sides of the past have been built on their rock solid defence, but this Gunners\’ side is a complete mess defensively and has conceded THREE goals in all of their last four away Premier League matches.

Despite Middlesbrough attacking woes, you\’ve just got to see them scoring against this Arsenal side and over 2.5 goals looks a bet at 1.80 with green listed bookmakers Paddy Power as does both teams to score as a “yes” at 1.83 with the same firm, which has been coming in regularly as we approach the final weeks of the season.

It\’s very hard to make a strong case for either side as they are in such poor form and morale in both camps must be at a low and a draw mightn\’t appease both sets of supporters but looks the best bet on the match outcome at 4.40 with Betfair Sportsbook.

Goals look on the cards and with Arsenal conceding three regularly in the Premier League, it might sound daft but at 91.0 it might be worth a pound in a 3-3 draw with Paddy Power.
