Football fans can look forward to a full round of midweek fixtures in both the Premiership and Ligue 1 and there is plenty of value on offer from the bookmakers. Here are some of the most interesting games:
Watford v Man Utd
Man Utd are rejuvenated after record signing Paul Pogba returned from injury and they have since recorded back-to-back victories. They travel to Vicarage Road to face an in-form Watford side flying high in eighth place after also winning two games in a row. It should prove to be an intriguing clash but Utd look strong at present and should claim a win here. Sun Bets and Marathon are offering 7/10 on that, while Ladbrokes has 16/11 on Man Utd to win and under 3.5 goals if you want more value from green listed bookmakers.
Chelsea v Swansea
The Swans have taken just one point from their last five games and it does not get any better on Wednesday as they have to face the champions at Stamford Bridge. Swansea have scored a mere seven goals this season and four of them have come from Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham, who will be ineligible against his parent club. They will find it very difficult to score against Chelsea, who have conceded once in their last four games. A Chelsea win to nil looks great here at 4/5 with Bet Victor and Boyle Sports.
Man City v Southampton
Man City have maintained their sensational start to the season and are running away with the Premiership title, but they are not blowing teams away like they were a month ago. They struggled to a 2-1 win against newly promoted Huddersfield last time out and have not won by more than two goals since October 21. Southampton come into this game on the back of a 4-1 win against Everton, but they are still huge outsiders, 16/1 with Ladbrokes and Coral. However, Southampton +2.5 Asian handicap looks interesting at 7/11 with 188Bet. This will be a game for Saints centre-back Virgil Van Dijk to put himself in the shop window and he can inspire Southampton to a decent defensive performance that sees them not lose by too many.
Stoke v Liverpool
It is hard to look past a both teams to score bet when Liverpool play nowadays and 10Bet has a tempting 5/7 on that outcome in this game. Liverpool are a fine tuned machine going forwards, with Mohamed Salah in devastating form, along with Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino. They are sure to score against Stoke. However, they are dreadful at the back, low on confidence, weak from set pieces and lacking leadership. Stoke have scored eight goals in six games at the Britannia this season and will fancy their chances of adding to that tally here.
Lyon v Lille
This is another one that has win to nil written all over it. Lyon have kept five clean sheets in a row and are up to second in the table, behind only megabucks PSG. Lille have scored just once in five games and are languishing in the relegation zone. You have a case of the league’s meanest defence at present going up against its worst attack, which so this should be a home win all day long. Paddy Power has 7/5 on Lyon to win to nil. However, win to nil can sometimes be a risky bet, so you could alternatively try Lyon -1.5 Asian handicap at 10/11 with 888 Sport.
Nantes v Monaco
The champions go into this game on the back of consecutive defeats and they are now nine points behind PSG, so they need to improve drastically. Nantes have also lost their last two games and will be low on confidence, so it could prove a cagey, cautious affair. However, Monaco have superior quality in all departments and can get their season back on track with an away win here, so the 21/20 William Hill has on that looks attractive.
