Course Notes

  • Bay Hill Club and Lodge
  • Par 72, 7466 yards

  • Many right-to-left dogleg holes.
  • Water hazards or lakes in play on 50% of the holes.
  • Bunkering is strategically strong in defending the greens.
  • Historically, the four par-5 holes are where many good scores are made.
  • Strong Florida Swing form and Bermuda grass putting worthy of respect.
  • Key Metrics: Total Driving, GIR and scrambling are hugely important, with Viktor Hovland’s loss in 2022 down to his short-game deficiencies at the time.

Weather Forecast

The wind has been known to cause havoc for many years at Bay Hill. However, this year early forecasts suggest a settled week with a little rain on Sunday.

Can Aberg Continue His Ascent to the Top of Golf?

We believe this week could be the one when Ludvig Aberg’s season catches fire. There are several solid reasons to recommend the twenty-four-year-old Swede.

Firstly, unlike most weeks currently on the PGA Tour, Aberg garnered some course experience here as an amateur and performed impressively, finishing in 24th. The year since must have been something of a whirlwind for the all-conquering collegiate phenom. Later in 2023, he made his Ryder Cup debut and won two professional events, the European Masters on the DP World Tour and the RSM Classic in the fall of the PGA Tour season.

It’s hard to remember a more impressive rookie than Aberg since Tiger Woods first hit the PGA Tour. After a solid start to 2024, the Swede will be looking to win this week on his favored Bermuda grass greens.

It will be his effortless ball-striking that does the damage if he wins this week. Woods himself was a phenomenal eight-time winner at Bay Hill with his elite long game.

To add further in Aberg’s case, there is the fact of how well European players have done here in recent years, when they have won three of the last six renewals of the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

The price about Ludvig Aberg winning this week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational is with Bovada at (+2000) and we recommend you take that combined with a Top 10 finish.

Will Captain Kirk Rule Bay Hill?

Yes, there is much to suggest Chris Kirk has a fantastic chance to win his first Arnold Palmer Invitational this week.

Chris Kirk is fast becoming an elite golfer. These next two weeks on the PGA Tour offer a couple of ideal opportunities for the thirty-eight-year-old from Knoxville, Tennessee.

Last week saw Kirk back to form at the Cognizant Classic after an unusual, messy missed cut at the Genesis Invitational. Remember, Kirk won the opening signature event of 2024, the Sentry, with an impressive display of low scoring over the weekend.

Chris Kirk’s resume of form at Bay Hill in the Arnold Palmer Invitational is mighty impressive. He has six Top 20 finishes, two of which have been Top 10s in the last three years.

Don’t forget due to personal issues away from the sport, Kirk had several years where he was battling those problems or missed the week through them. So with that context, his resume here looks even more impressive.

We suggest taking Chris Kirk at (+6600) to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational combined with the Top 10 finish price.
