It was a pitching duel Monday in Seattle where a Mitch Garver home run walked off a 2-1 Mariners win over Atlanta. It very well could be another mound battle Tuesday when Reynaldo Lopez (2-0, 0.72) and the Braves take on Luis Castillo (2-4, 4.15) and the M’s.

The best free agent bargain from this past offseason just might turn out to be Lopez, who the Braves got for a measly $30 million over 3 years. Atlanta has won his last 3 trips to the hill, Lopez surrendering just 1 run while striking out 19 in the same number of innings.
After losing his first 4 starts with an ERA that approached 6, Castillo has been sharp the last 2 times out. He picked up road wins in Denver and Arlington that included an impressive 7 shutout innings at Coors Field and allowing just 2 runs in 6 frames against a tough Rangers lineup.
Another Chilly Evening in Seattle
With the thermometer expected to be in the mid-50s at game time and dropping, T-Mobile Park should be buttoned up once again. Gabe Morales (1-4 O/U) has been a friend to ‘under’ bettors so far in 2024, but I like Castillo and the Mariners as small home dogs for my free MLB pick.
