Can Daniel Berger finally win the Cognizant?

I believe this could be the year that Daniel Berger finally lands the Cognizant Classic at PGA National.

It seems unthinkable now that it was a decade ago that Berger in his rookie season lost a sudden death play-off to Padraig Harrington but I remember it like it was yesterday, given that I had tipped and backed Berger each way at +15000.

Much has happened to the thirty-one-year-old from Florida since, which includes two further near misses here and four PGA Tour wins before a serious back injury three years ago derailed Berger’s career.

Last year was something of a rehabilitation and consolidation on the PGA Tour as he took small steps on his way back to full confidence, indeed it was something of a struggle but Berger's class told when he won his Tour card back at the final event.

Berger's Confidence Soars

This new season it looks obvious that Berger has lengthened up off the tee which suggests his confidence that his injury is the past is climbing.  In fact, he arrives at Palm Beach Gardens, one of his favourite weeks on the PGA in fine form coming off a strong Genesis Invitational that backed up a runner-up finish in Phoenix.

This week's pick at BMR, Daniel Berger is not “rocket science” but sometimes the bleeding obvious is the best pick.  Take the Bovada win price of (+2800) along with a top 5 finish.

Don’t be Mad with Max if you don’t bet him

This is not the week to miss out on backing Max Greyserman, as it is effectively a home game.  The young Floridian has fond memories as amazingly achieved his first ever under par round of golf at PGA National.

Last year was Greyserman’s rookie season and he went off here at (+30000) and played respectably, in fact as the year progressed the twenty-nine-year-old progressed through the ranks of the PGA tour at a pace, so much so that he ended the year world ranked #37.

After a solid if unspectacular start to the year, maybe the return to Bermuda grass greens will tip the scales in the favour of Greyserman who is standing at 69th at Strokes Gained on the greens, which given he was the second ranked putter on tour in 2024 gives hope that it will.

Greyserman's Rising Form

Greyserman played with much promise on his last start at the Genesis Invitational which was rescheduled to Torrey Pines and his world ranking has managed to tip toe up to #36 due to that effort at Torrey Pines preceded by 7th at the American Express.

At BMR, we would be mad if Max Greyserman was to win his home game this week and we did not back him.   Our best sportsbook BetOnline price of (+4000) is plenty for us to confidently step in and back this burgeoning talent to win the Cognizant Classic.
