Week 5 on the college football betting card begins with an early matchup in Colorado before a late-night free pick in another PAC-12 clash.

USC Trojans vs. Colorado Buffaloes

Saturday, September 30, 2023 – 12:00 PM EDT at Folsom Field

A kickoff at 10 o’clock in the morning in Boulder? Have Colorado students even had their Red Bull and gummies that early to get primed for another Buffaloes football game?

Buffs Seeking 1st Win Against Trojans

Even though it’s not what you’d call a prime-time telecast, it should still draw a strong audience on the Big FOX when the USC Trojans visit Colorado. The numbers at the top offshore sportsbooks, however, suggest another “good old-fashioned butt-kicking” with the Trojans favored by 21.5-22.5 over the Buffaloes.

Southern Cal has never lost to Colorado, winning all 16 meetings with the last 11 coming as PAC-12 foes. The Trojans have won four of the last five by double digits and covered a massive 34.5-point spread in the matchup a season ago in Los Angeles. The three most recent games in Boulder all went ‘over’ the totals, with this year’s target set at 73.5.

Williams Off 5-TD Effort at ASU

Favored by 34.5, the Trojans struggled on the road at Arizona State last week before managing a 42-28 win. USC was its own worst enemy at times, but Caleb Williams still managed to throw for 3 TD and run for 2 more.

Sanders and the Buffs felt disrespected at being 3-TD underdogs at Oregon last Saturday, then went out and proved the oddsmakers weren’t generous enough in a 42-6 humiliation up in Eugene. An offense that averaged more than 41 PPG in the first 3 outings was held to under 200 yards and only managed to avoid being shut out with a late score.

Georgia Bulldogs vs. Auburn Tigers

Saturday, September 30, 2023 – 03:30 PM EDT at Jordan-Hare Stadium

After managing just 200 yards of offense and getting sacked 6 times by Texas A&M last week, the Auburn Tigers have a lot of work to do in order to turn the offense around this Saturday at home against the Georgia Bulldogs.

Dawgs Seeking 7th-Straight Over Tigers

BetOnline has the reigning national champs favored by 14.5 for this midafternoon SEC skirmish, and the scoreboard target is set at 47 across the board in early betting.

Auburn used to hold the advantage in the rivalry, but that was before Georgia turned things around by winning 15 of the last 18 matchups to give the Bulldogs a 63-56 overall lead. The Bulldogs have won and covered the last half-dozen showdowns, and four of the last five at Jordan-Hare failed to reach the totals.

Who Will Be Under Center for Auburn?

Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs won’t be between the hedges for the first time this season, and they’ll take an 11-game SEC road win streak down to Auburn. Georgia’s defense allowed 21 points in the win over UAB last week after surrendering 24 in the first 3 games combined.

Payton Thorne never could get the Tigers moving last week in College Station, and Hugh Freeze didn’t have any better luck turning the offense over to backups Robby Ashford and Holden Geriner. It won’t be easier this week, with the ‘under’ an easy college football pick.

Washington Huskies vs. Arizona Wildcats

Saturday, September 30, 2023 – 10:00 PM EDT at Arizona Stadium

The Arizona Wildcats are about to embark on a tough 4-game stretch against ranked teams, and it begins with a tough test at home against the high-octane Washington Huskies.

Can ‘Cats Stop Skid in Rivalry?

A quick check of the NCAAF odds board finds Washington favored by 17.5-18 in the Huskies’ first PAC-12 road game of the season. The total is floating just below the 70-point mark.

Washington has beaten Arizona 6-straight, with the covers split down the middle in those contests. It was a scoreboard buster in Seattle last year when the Huskies posted a 49-39 win as 2-TD chalk, the teams combining for more than 900 yards passing and Michael Penix Jr. throwing for a UW record 516.

Huskies Top Offense in Country

We knew Washington’s offense could score before the Huskies hosted California last week, and now we know they can put points on the board with their defense and special teams.

The Huskies took a 14-0 lead before Michael Penix Jr. and the Washington offense ever took the field, and while the defense did leak a little by allowing the Golden Bears over 500 yards, the 59-32 final was still enough to cover the 21-point spread.

The Pick

Arizona lost QB Jayden de Laura in the third quarter but still managed to slip past Stanford on the road, 21-20. The junior from Honolulu is day-to-day with a calf injury.
