After a drama-filled midweek loss at the hands of Chelsea, Manchester United returns home to host a title-chasing Liverpool squad, who they defeated in an FA Cup clash in their last home fixture a few weeks back.
Unfortunately for the Red Devils, said FA Cup victory was a rare successful outing as late. Erik ten Hag’s men enter Sunday’s game with just 1 win from their 5 most recent domestic outings, including three losses during this stretch.
Not all is lost, however. United can be confident that they’ve avoided defeat in 42 of their last 50 home meetings in all competitions, and Liverpool has failed to win at Old Trafford in back-to-back visits.
Revenge In Mind
Liverpool may have PTSD from the highly entertaining FA Cup clash they had at Old Trafford last month. They were dragged into extra time and eliminated from the competition by Hag’s squad.
With revenge in mind, the Reds can look at their current domestic form and find confidence. In 23 league clashes, Jurgen Klopp’s unstoppable unit has lost just one outing, and they’ve notably won six of their last seven league games.

The EPL betting odds have placed Liverpool as a betting favorite, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see Man United pull something special out of the bag as they have against their Northern rivals two times this season.
Following midweek action for both sides, we shouldn’t expect an all-out battle like the FA Cup quarter-final clash a few weeks ago. Anticipating Liverpool to own the possession advantage is natural, but finding goals could be more challenging than expected.

An Intense Title Race
Midweek EPL action saw Arsenal claim another three points as the 2023/23 title race between the Gunners, Liverpool, and current holders Manchester City is looking to come down to the wire. However, with an almost unblemished record of nine wins from 10 games this year, Mikel Arteta’s squad looked primed to make a serious challenge for the coveted trophy.
With just over a month of scheduled domestic fixtures remaining, every point taken or missed could be crucial come May. Next up, Arteta and co. head south, looking to defeat Brighton in four consecutive games where they boast complete shut-out victories.
Mediocre Season for the Seagulls
Sat in ninth place in the EPL standings, it hasn’t been a terrible season for Brighton by any means, and a Europa League qualification position is still doable. However, 2024 has been filled with inconsistent results, and with minimal success versus teams in the top half of the table this term, they enter matchday 32 with limited chances of success.
Since February, Roberto De Zerbi’s men have lost four, drawn two, and won two games in all competitions. They faltered to a 2-0 scoreline at the Emirates last year, and although a home advantage is in play, they’re facing the best road team, by the statistics, in the division.

On the road, Arsenal is the highest-ranked team in the Premier League with 34 goals, 30 points earned, and just 11 goals conceded. They’ve almost been unstoppable away from home this term, and with The Seagulls missing their primary attacking threat, Kaoru Mitoma, it’s difficult to envision them doing much damage to the capital this weekend.
Aside from all noteworthy statistics suggesting Arsenal take the dub, Arteta rested several first-team superstars midweek. With a refreshed line-up and a newfound level of confidence home and away this term, it’s the visitors' game to lose in what I expect to produce another 2-0 shutout, as we saw at the Emirates between these two sides in the reverse fixture.
Given the playable Arsenal moneyline price of -162, we don’t need to get creative with our selection. Take the Gunners to win, and don’t think twice, as the home side doesn’t have enough talent to keep pace with the North London unit.
