We have an early start this week on the PGA Tour when the Farmers Insurance Open starts on Wednesday.

The iconic Torrey Pines hosts the event, and the players can expect a very stern test of skill, the opposite of last week’s birdie fest down the road.

We have gone for two elite players returning from serious injury this week.

Check out the golf betting odds available at our main sportsbooks.

Farmers Insurance Open 2024

January 24 – 27, 2024 at Torrey Pines

Course Notes

  • Torrey Pines North (7285 yards, par 72) and South Course (7765 yards, par 72)
  • La Jolla, California
  • South Course has hosted the US Open twice in recent years.
  • The North course is only used pre-cut as the field is split on the opening two days between the tracks.
  • Both were designed by William F. Bell in 1957.

Torrey Pines always sets a stiff exam on the clifftops overlooking the Pacific Ocean where it is prone to the elements on occasion.

The greens are Poa Annua on the South Course and strokes gained off the tee can be hugely important, illustrated by Tiger Woods’ remarkable record at the venue.

Weather Forecast

Currently, a settled forecast for the Farmers Insurance Open though often this time of year, it can be quietly cold in the early mornings.

Previous Winners

Will It Be Redemption for Will Z This Week at the Farmers?

In 2022, Will Zalatoris went agonizingly close to his maiden PGA Tour title here at the Farmers Insurance Open when he lost in a playoff to Luke List.

Zalatoris would go onto his first win later in the year at the FedEx St. Jude Championship but his career has been shadowed since by an horrific back injury which has put the twenty-seven-year-old from San Francisco on the sidelines.

His comeback in the big league was a Tiger Woods Hero Challenge just before Christmas. Last week at the American Express was his event back on the PGA Tour. Having missed the cut at the Sony Open despite an eye-catching second round, Zalatoris would have been pleased to complete all four rounds last week. His performance in 39th was very creditable and the perfect confidence builder for this week at a track better suited to his strength of ball striking.

If Will Zalatoris was not returning from injury this week, we believe we would have struggled to get a bigger price than +2500. To find Bovada hanging out +5000 is too good an opportunity for readers to pass up. We are advising that you all avail yourself of what might be the biggest price Will Zalatoris ever goes off at the Farmers Insurance Open for the next 20 years.

Will It Be Daniel Berger on the Comeback Trail This Week?

I would not be surprised if this week is “the week of the comebacks on the PGA Tour”. If it is not our opening selection, maybe it will be Daniel Berger in the winner’s circle.

Daniel Berger returned last week from an eighteen-month absence through a serious back injury. Like Zalatoris, he finished a very creditable 39th and again, like Willy Z, he will improve for a sterner test this week.

We know Berger loves Poa Annua greens given his record up the road at Pebble Beach. He finished 7th here in the 2021 US Open to confirm this track holds no terrors.

Interestingly, Daniel Berger has always played well when fresh off a break, often starting many seasons fast. He even won the first event after the Covid-19 pandemic to illustrate that fact.

Again, like Willy Z, we may never get +6000 at BetOnline again about Daniel Berger winning the Farmers Insurance Open, so let’s step in and hoover up those prices for the weekend.
