At BMR we expect the marquee pairing of Rickie Fowler and Lexi Thompson at the Grant Thorton Invitational to enjoy the spotlight as they have done throughout their singles careers.

Let’s go through some of their points in favor and how this sets the odds at our main offshore sportsbooks.

Grant Thornton Invitational 2023

December 08 – 10, 2023, at Tiburon Golf Club, Naples, Florida

Course Notes

  • Designer: Greg Norman
  • Par 72, 7882 yards
  • Hosts the season-ending CME Tour Championship on the LPGA Tour.

The track has played host to the previous event, the QBE Shootout, for several years prior which was men only but now, with sixteen LPGA players invited, we have a mixed doubles event to analyze hand in hand with our main offshore sportsbooks.

Grant Thornton Format

Friday, December 08 — Opening Round — Scramble format

The opening round scramble format sees the players select the best tee shot and both play from there, then use the same process for each shot bringing an attacking low scoring round to open proceedings.

Saturday, December 09 — Second Round — Foursome (Alternate Shot) format

Foursome is the most challenging format, with each player hitting alternate shots from alternate tee shots. Patience is required and this format is the true test of a golfing partnership.

Sunday, December 10 — Final Round — Modified Four-Ball format

The Final Round of the modified format brings an exciting new concept, whereby all four players tee off but play their partners’ ball for the second shot through to the completion of the hole.

Can We Trust the Marquee Pairing?

Rickie Fowler sharpened up last week at the Hero World Challenge, so we expect his game to be in better nick than many of his male compatriots. Lexi Thompson stole the headlines a couple of months ago on the PGA Tour when she played on a sponsor’s invitation at the Shriners Open. The twenty-eight-year-old from the host state came agonizingly close to making the cut, but acquitted herself with huge credit.

Like Fowler, Thompson is often the center of attention in the media rooms during events as well as on the course, and it’s possible this week could be a perfect storm for the duo. Thompson has become something of a course specialist over the years at the Tiburon Golf Club. Winning the CME Tour Championship of 2018 was her highlight, but with six other top-8 finishes her affinity with the track in Naples is rock-solid.

Here at BMR, we recommend you add the pairing of Rickie Fowler and Lexi Thompson to your bet slip at the price of (+900) at BetOnline.

Can the Down Under Pair Land the Grant Thornton Invitational?

Yes, here at BMR we believe the pairing of Australian Jason Day and New Zealander, Lydia Ko, could take the title back Down Under.

Like Rickie Fowler, Jason Day has the advantage of playing in last week’s Hero World Challenge to shape the rust off his game. Interestingly, back in 2014, Day was the champion of the QBE Shootout at the Tiburon Golf Course when pairing up with Cameron Tringale.

Like Lexi Thompson, the twenty-six-year-old Kiwi has a remarkable affinity with the track through her exploits at the CME Tour Championship. She was the champion here in 2014 and 2022, while in the last decade, she has only finished outside of the top 10 on three occasions.

When you combine the experience of Jason Day when winning the previous event using the same format in 2014, with Lydia Ko’s top-class course record, there is a bet to be had for BMR readers and followers this week at the attractive price of (+1200) at BetOnline.
