The sportsbooks have released their betting odds for the long-awaited Second Round of the NCAA Tournament, we’re taking a look at the Michigan vs. Texas A&M game.
Michigan Wolverines vs. Texas A&M Aggies
Saturday, March 22, 2025 – 05:15 PM EDT at Ball Arena
Congested Paint
Texas A&M under Buzz Williams is deeply committed to preventing points at the basket, which is why it allows such a high rate of three-point attempts.
The Aggies’ determination to congest the painted area echoes a Michigan opponent that the Wolverines, because they are easily at their best when they can rely especially on their seven-footers to score inside, scored all of 49 points against: Nebraska.
Nebraska used positioning and aggressive helping to make Michigan a three-point shooting team.
Texas A&M will do the same and, with two players who rank top-65 in block rate, will do so with better shot-blocking talent and better athletes.
Crash The Glass
Good offensive rebounding groups give Michigan trouble, as evident in its 20-point loss to Illinois where the Illini grabbed 19 offensive rebounds.
Texas A&M is the nation’s top offensive-rebounding team by percentage and, with its grass-clashing propensity, will give the Wolverines even more trouble.
It is true and easy to see that the Aggies don’t have beautiful field goal efficiency numbers on offense. But they don’t need to be efficient when their defense allows a low point total and when they, via offensive rebounds especially but also blocks and turnovers, attempt a lot more shots on offense.
Regarding turnovers, Michigan relies extensively on seven-footer Danny Wolf as a facilitator — which reveals the unfortunate state of its guard group. He makes dribbling mistakes and contributes to Michigan’s turnover problem — the Wolverines rank 329th at limiting their turnovers. Texas A&M is one of the best teams at forcing turnovers.
