- Jorge Soler To Get a Home Run (+450)
Minnesota Twins vs. Miami Marlins
Wednesday, April 05, 2023 – 01:10 PM EDT at loanDepot park
Is Luis Arraez Married?
Okay, I got a chuckle out of the auto-complete for Arraez, who made his first All-Star team last year and earned his first Silver Slugger as a super-utility infielder for Minnesota. Sorry, folks: He’s married with two kids if our research is correct.
After four years in the Gopher State, Arraez (.795 OPS last year) was traded to Miami during the offseason for a package of two prospects and pitcher Pablo Lopez (3.56 xFIP) – who happens to be starting Wednesday.
The Pick
We’re a bit leery of fading Lopez in what we’re assuming is a revenge game, but Arraez is available to record a hit at -115 betting odds as we go to press. That’s way too tasty to pass up, with Arraez recording hits in each of his first five games, going 11-for-21 with just one walk, and FantasyData projecting 1.29 hits for Wednesday’s matinee.
This will be the first time Arraez and Lopez have faced each other in the majors; maybe this will be the start of an epic baseball rivalry, one that builds slowly over time (because interleague, at least for now) and culminates with the final at-bat in Game 7 of the World Series.
In the meantime, we’ve got a very warm Wednesday afternoon brewing in Miami, with zero chance of rain and temperatures in the mid-80s. That’s the good weather for our MLB prop picks; the bad weather is 15 mph winds and gusts up to 30 mph from the east, which is out down the third-base line at this particular ballpark. Can’t have everything.

Is Jorge Soler Married?
I love the internet. Yes, and happily so by all accounts. He’s also second in Miami’s batting order behind Arraez, and for our second MLB prop, we’re taking Soler (13 HR in 72 games last year) to go deep this Wednesday, for a healthy +450 payout.
Soler is one of the few people on this planet who can say they won a World Series with the Chicago Cubs. That was in 2016; he did it again two years ago with Atlanta, where he was named World Series MVP before bolting to Miami in free agency.
The Pick
It’s been a pretty good start to the 2023 campaign for Soler. He’s 5-for-20 in his first five games – four of those at DH, the other in right field – with:
- Three doubles
- A homer
- A .836 OPS
Very nice. Then again, Soler is 0-for-3 lifetime against Perez, with no walks and nothing but zeroes across the board. This could be the righty-righty matchup, or just a small sample size; with FantastyData projecting 0.17 homers this Wednesday, we’ll happily give Soler a spin at +450. Put us down for one unit on this prop and two on Arraez, and may the sphere be with you.
