Minnesota Wild vs. Chicago Blackhawks
Monday, April 10, 2023 – 09:00 PM EDT at United Center
Minnesota is in a three-way shootout for the top spot in the Central Division with only two points separating them from the Avalanche and Stars. Needless to say, the last three games of the season are not only critical but winnable with none more so than tonight’s game against the cellar-dwelling Hawks.
Chicago has lost 10 of their last 11 games, all of which have been by two goals or more. We should also point out that nine of Minnesota’s last 10 victories have all been by more than a goal. Lastly, the last two meetings between these clubs have seen the Wild win by two goals or more, outscoring Chicago, 7-2, in those contests.
I think you know where I’m going with this one. And if you need further evidence that Minnesota on the puck line is the way to go then allow me to submit the following:
- Wild are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. Central.
- Wild are 5-1 in their last 6 when their opponent allows 5 goals or more in their previous game.
- Wild are 12-4 in their last 16 vs. Western Conference.
- Favorite is 13-3 in the last 16 meetings.
- Wild are 8-0 in the last 8 meetings.

Seattle Kraken vs. Arizona Coyotes
Monday, April 10, 2023 - 10:00 PM EDT at Mullett Arena
The Kraken has won four straight, with two of those wins coming at the expense of the Coyotes. And here we are again as these two divisional rivals will face off for the third time in a week with the Kraken outscoring the lowly Coyotes, 12-3, in those two contests.
I’m asking myself why this game will be any different but the most obvious change is the shift in venue from Seattle to Tempe. Mullett Arena, the 5000-seat stadium in which the Coyotes own a league-worst 7-25-9 home record, is the site for tonight’s affair which only bodes well for Seattle.
The Kraken, on the other hand, is an impressive 25-10-4 on the highway and their last six victories have been by two or more goals. Seattle owns one of the best offenses in the league but has a middling defense that will be lightly challenged by an anemic Coyotes’ offense, currently last in shots on goals, averaging just 25.9 shots per game, and goal-scoring production that is near the bottom of the league with just 2.8 goals per contest.
Seattle has too much offensive firepower for the Coyotes and once Arizona falls behind, the game will be all but over. Let’s lay the 1.5 goals and watch the Kraken do yet again what they’ve done twice before over the last week, beat Arizona by two goals or more.

Vancouver Canucks vs. Los Angeles Kings
Monday, April 10, 2023 - 10:30 PM EDT at Crypto.com Arena
The Canucks skate into LA having done something that they haven’t done much of this season - win two consecutive games. That’s right, although Vancouver has been eliminated from postseason contention, they are winning games at a time when it doesn’t mean a thing to them or their fans.
On the flip side, the Kings have secured a playoff berth and are trying to maintain their No. 3 spot in the Pacific Division. However, their last three efforts have all come up empty with losses to the Oilers (3-1), Golden Knights (5-2), and Avalanche (4-3).
And although losing is never a good thing, especially down the home stretch of the season, we should note that the caliber of those teams compared to the lowly Sharks is vastly superior.
A little over a week ago, the Kings skated into Vancouver and skated away with a 4-1 victory. But now these teams will meet in LA’s barn where the Kings are 25-11-4. Unfortunately for the Canucks, the road is not their friend as evidenced by their 17-16-5 record, which is just another reason why the Kings should run away with this one.
I’m not fond of laying north of -150 on any team but the Kings are in a good spot to capture a victory in this one. However, the Canucks have been playing well enough that I’m not comfortable making this a puck-line bet on the Kings but will rather lay the hefty price and cash a ticket when it’s all said and done.
