Alexander Ovechkin is on the verge of becoming a true NHL gold membership ten carrot gold legend as he approaches Wayne Gretzkys all time goal record. At the time of writing Ovechkin is only ten goals away from equalling the record, and eleven goals from becoming the all-time leader. Not bad for a 39-year-old.
Ovechkin has been on fire this season, scoring the league’s 4th joint most (and just two games behind the 3rd most) amount of goals. Not only is that impressive enough, but it must be noted he played 10, 17, and 18 games less than the three players we already mentioned. For argument’s sake, the top scorer won’t be caught as he already has 10 goals clear of 2nd overall.

Meanwhile, Vegas has been going from strength to strength, as they sit 3rd overall in the Western Conference, they are on course to leap Dallas for second.
