Top NHL Pick: Oilers ML (-125) at BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review)
Having set the tone in their previous game winning by seven goals to three, we expect the Oilers will want to win yet again on home ice against a very winnable team that holds a horrible record at Rogers Place.
Elsewhere on tonight’s card, we are targeting goals in the late puck drop between Columbus and Seattle.
New York Islanders vs. Edmonton Oilers
Tuesday, November 12, 2024 – 09:00 PM ET at Rogers Place
Islanders’ Poor Record at Rogers Place
The Edmonton Oilers made the Stanley Cup final last season, coming second to the eventual winners the Florida Panthers, but thus far this season they have started things off on the wrong foot, but in recent games seem to be pulling things together.
Having gone 2-5 in their opening 7 games and 4-6 in their first ten, they have since made strides to pick up an extra few wins and have gone 5-3 in their previous 8 games. Coming into this game, the Oilers are 6-7-1 overall and currently sit in 8th position in the Western Conference.
Taking a look at their opponents, the NY Islanders, things are on par with the Oilers having had an overall record of 6-6-2 and sitting 10th overall in the much more difficult Eastern Conference.
The Islanders have W/L/W/L/W/L/W in their previous seven road games, exchanging a win and a loss each game, if trends are anything to go by, they are due a loss tonight, but even more so they have a horrendous record on the road to Edmonton having gone just 1-9 in their previous 10 games.
Despite allowing a respectable 3.2 goals per game in those ten meetings, their goals per game are not much to write home about having had just 1.8 goals per game.
Team Trends
- The Edmonton Oilers have won 9 of their previous 10 home games against the NY Islanders.
- Edmonton are 5-0 in their last 5 games when playing at home against NY Islanders.
- NY Islanders are 7-13 in their last 20 games.
The Pick
Edmonton seems to be hitting their stride now, although they are still a bit shaky they should manage to get the job done on home ice against the NY Islanders, who have a very poor record at Rogers Place, and the Oilers are coming into this game off the back of a very impressive 7-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks.
It’s hard to see where the Islanders’ goals will come from even if they do manage to keep the Oilers’ offense quiet, take the Oilers at -125 on the NHL betting odds to win this matchup.

Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Seattle Kraken
Tuesday, November 12, 2024 – 10:00 PM ET at Climate Pledge Arena
Nothing to Lose Matchup
Both the Columbus Blue Jackets and Seattle Kraken come into tonight’s game having had losing records overall, with the Blue Jackets 5-7-2 and the Kraken 6-8-1. Both teams are on the cusp of having a 50% win record but need to pick up wins sooner rather than later if they wish to remain in the playoff race.
Coming into this game, both teams have nothing to lose and we believe the best NHL bet tonight is to target the total to go over, but not just any over, we are taking the plus money line.
The previous two Seattle games have seen 7 and 9 goals scored respectively, while Columbus has seen 6/7/3/9 and 8 goals scored in each of their previous five games. The Kraken might be able to somewhat keep their games low-scoring, but when the Blue Jackets are in town that could be hard to do.
Team Trends
- The total has gone over in 4 of Columbus’ 7 road games this season.
- The Columbus Blue Jackets are 9-5 to the total over this season.
- Seattle have seen 7 of their opening 15 NHL games go over the total.
The Pick
All-time meetings between these two teams have produced an average of 6.1 goals per game, with 4 of their 6 meetings seeing 6+ goals we expect there to be plenty of action in this game.
The safer and most likely winner here is the over 5.5 goals line, but that’s set at -200; the 6.0 line, which includes the push is still as low as -120. Give us the over 6.5 goals, it’s a bit of a gamble but much better value than either of the lines laying juice.
NHL Pick: Over 6.5 (+120) at BetOnline
