We have a monster NHL card on our hands today with no less than 12 games taking place. Following our 3-0 clean sweep in our previous article we are hoping to profit for a second day in a row; so consider taking these game picks and player props at the top sportsbooks ahead of tonight’s action.

Nashville Predators vs. New York Rangers

Thursday, October 19, 2023 – 07:00 PM EDT at Madison Square Garden

1-3 Nashville to Struggle in the Big Apple

Let’s be honest here, this Nashville team is mediocre at best and it’s no surprise to see they have started the season 1-3. It doesn’t help matters when we consider the fact the Rangers will have had an extra days rest ahead of this game and the Predators are only after being thumped 6-1 by the Edmonton Oilers. The Predators were beaten 7-0 the last time they played in Madison Square Garden.

The NY Rangers are a far better team than the Predators and the back-to-back home matchups will be a benefit to the team having had zero travelling to do, along with a day’s rest.

The Pick

We believe the Nashville Predators are too weak offensively to match the Rangers, who have a solid defensive unit and goaltending. Take the NY Rangers to win back-to-back home games at the Garden in a game we expect them to win by 2+ goals so we are more than happy to bet them at -115 betting odds to win in regulation.

Edmonton Oilers vs. Philadelphia Flyers

Thursday, October 19, 2023 – 07:30 PM EDT at Wells Fargo Center

Edmonton Value to Cover Spread

Edmonton finally found their stride in the previous game picking up their first win of the season with a Leon Draisaitl hat-trick. A 6-1 win over the Predators was enough to get the Oilers back into the swing of things and they will surely fancy their chances of winning tonight against one of the worst teams in the league at the moment.

We were surprised to see Edmonton were +120 to cover the -1.5 PK line in this matchup, which for us represents value at these odds.

The Pick

Ironically the Vancouver Canukcs beat the Oilers twice but then the Flyers beat the Canucks last time out, we love the swings of hockey but for us, the Oilers are far better than the Flyers and we fail to see them keeping pucks out of the net.

Maybe if they could match the Oilers goal for goal, they would stand a chance but their offensive power isn’t comparable, expect the Oilers to win this one easily on the road and cover the -1.5 PK line at a nice set of odds at +120, this is value down to as low as +105.

Chicago Blackhawks vs. Colorado Avalanche

Thursday, October 19, 2023 – 10:30 PM EDT at Ball Arena

Nathan MacKinnon (Colorado Avalanche)

We are all about Nathan MacKinnon bringing his shooting gloves on home ice tonight against the Chicago Blackhawks.

MacKinnon is already the joint leader for shots per game along with Auston Matthews. The pair have averaged seven shots per game this season. The Blackhawks surprisingly beat the Toronto Maple Leafs last time out and Matthews came away with 8 shots in that game. We believe MacKinnon can put up similar numbers against the Blackhawks tonight.

The Pick

Last season MacKinnon faced Chicago three times, averaging 6.5 shots per game having had 6,6,8 shots in all three games respectively. We absolutely love MacKinnon’s 4.5 shots line at -135 odds in this scenario.

A home game after putting up just three shots last time out, MacKinnon should have his shooting gloves on and another side factor might be the fact Connor Bedard is on the opposing team.

Although MacKinnon might not particularly feel threatened by him, he himself is a top five player in the league and Bedard has aspirations of becoming a top three player. MacKinnon might want to show who is boss tonight, and take him to see 5+ shots at -135, although we love this pick, we wouldn’t advise laying anymore than -145/-150.
