It’s gone from dreamland to nightmare for the Florida Panthers, having let a 3-0 series lead slip they have now gone on to lose the previous three games against the Oilers which has set us up for a game seven Stanley Cup finals.

17 of the previous 85 finals have gone to a game seven with the home team going 12-5 in games seven, but it must be noted that the previous three-game seven winners were all road teams.

Check out what our final NHL pick of the season is at +280 NHL betting odds.

Edmonton Oilers vs. Florida Panthers

Monday, June 24, 2024 – 08:00 PM ET at Amerant Bank Arena

No Favorites, Pick Em

It’s fitting that this game seven has seen the sportsbooks pretty much set the line up as a pick em for these finals, with the Oilers coming in at -105 on the moneyline, the Florida Panthers are -115, so the Panthers are slight favorites but we know this is only because they are the team on home ice. Had the Oilers been at home these odds would be swapped around.

Both teams have won 3 games in a row each, so there is very little to choose between these teams, and neither game has gone to overtime thus far in these finals. Prior to the Oilers going 3-0, they have previously gone 0-5 against the Panthers. It’s really hard to separate these two teams but one thing is for sure: the momentum is with the Edmonton Oilers heading into this final game of the season despite being on the road.

The Panthers are in a tough spot here. Not only did they let a 3-0 series lead slip in the finals, but they also made the finals last season and finished runners-up, so there’s the potential for the Florida Panthers to have made back-to-back Stanley Cup finals and finish runners-up on both occasions.

The Pick

With 7 of the 17 previous game number 7s being won by a one-goal margin in the Stanley Cup finals, we are looking to get involved with this market for tonight’s matchup, and we believe we have found the value bet.

We know the Panthers are at home, and believe us, we have been big on the Panthers winning the previous three games (which they didn’t do) so tonight we are avoiding the Panthers (at our peril).

Win or lose we can’t expect another Panthers win when they have let us down for three games in a row, and all the momentum is siding with the Oilers who look unstoppable right now in front of the crease having scored 18 goals in their previous three games compared to just 5 goals in the first three games of the series.

We are prepared to take a chance on the +280 NHL betting odds available on the Edmonton Oilers to win this game by a one-goal margin. Encouragingly, 9 of the Oilers’ 15 playoff wins have seen them win by a one-goal margin, the flip side to that is they have done so just once in their previous 6 playoff games.

With that said, this is the finals and we expect no quarter to be given, this game will likely be won by a one-goal margin from either team and we are looking to side with the team riding the crest of a wave right now. Connor McDavid and co could be about to finally get their hands on lord Stanley, and things looked so bleak only 10 days ago.
