Will Brooks Koepka Defend His PGA Crown?

Yes, there must be a strong chance that Brooks Koepka will defend his PGA Championship this week and win his fourth Wanamaker Trophy, after he arrives in Louisville Kentucky on the back of a LIV Tour win on his most recent start.

Back in 2019, Koepka defended the PGA Championship he won in 2018 and he managed the same feat in the US Opens of 2017 and 2018.

Expect an Improved Koepka

His form prior to his LIV Singapore win in 2024 had seemed a little lackluster but at the Masters, the news emerged that he was using new clubs and putter. With that equipment change now bedded into his psyche and muscle memory allied with the recent boost of confidence, Koepka, will be a tough cookie this week.

The interesting thing about Brooks Koepka is how his career is built around performing his best at major championships. He has made no secret of his desire to win them, with his current tally being five, and his recent injury woes behind him, Koepka will be primed for his best golf of 2024 this week.

With that context, Koepka's price of +1400 against Scheffler's +500 and Rory McIlroy's +800 is arguably a shade value this week, given the Masters Champion is returning from paternity leave and could be forgiven for being just short of his best this week.

Here at BMR, we advise you to take Brooks Koepka to win his sixth major Championship, his fourth Wanamaker Trophy while defending his crown.

Can Jason Day Win a Second PGA?

There is no doubt, that winning a PGA Championship is a very special achievement for a professional golfer, and indeed certain elite golfers are perfectly suited by the unique demands of the event. One of those such golfers is the thirty-six-year-old Aussie Jason Day, whose one and only major win was the Wanamaker Trophy in 2015.

Interestingly, the year before, Day played the last renewal at Valhalla when he was 15th.

Fast forward to 2024, and Day has been simmering away on the PGA Tour with a bunch of solid results without really hitting the heights the former world no. 1 is used to. Last week at the Wells Fargo was an encouraging one for Day when finishing 4th, and Quail Hollow was a very good prep for his game and confidence for this week. The Australian is a player who plays in spells of form, so it is important to catch him while he is hot, and last week we could see the temperature in Jason Day’s game rising.

Hitting the ball long off the tee allied with his brilliant short game and soft greens look Jason Day’s optimum conditions and the weather forecast combined with his 2014 course experience, this could be the week he joins the long list of multiple PGA champions.

Use Bovada to bet Jason Day at +5000 for the PGA Championship.
