Nationals Pitching Profile
Southpaw MacKenzie Gore (10-12, 4.04 ERA, 1.45 WHIP) will do the honors for the hometown team after twirling an absolute gem in his last effort in which he surrendered one long ball over seven innings and nothing more than that in a 7-1 victory over the Cubs a week ago.
The Pick
As good as Gore looked in his last start, it’s tough to ignore his last meeting with Philadelphia, in which the Phillies torched him for five runs on nine hits over 5.2 innings in a 5-1 Philadelphia victory.
Zack Wheeler, on the other hand, has acquitted himself quite nicely in his two starts against the Nats this season, both victories and allowing four runs on six hits over 13.1 innings in that pair of W’s. Back the Phillies in this one.
