Right-hander Rhett Lowder (1-2, 1.74 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) will be making just the fifth start of his MLB career when he takes on the Bucs in front of the fan friendlies at the Great American Ballpark. Lowder was the No. 7 overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft and has pitched lights out since being promoted to the bigs at the end of August.

This is a sensational matchup between two highly talented young guns in their rookie seasons. However, Pittsburgh’s Jared Jones has made 20 starts and has gotten sharper as the season has grown longer. The Pirates have won Jones’ last three starts and five of his last six.
