Recent appearances here at Sea Island could prove deceptive for punters when studying Davis Thompson’s recent efforts in the RSM Classic.
His form figures since turning professional and one year as an amateur read mc, mc, mc, and 23rd (amateur) but Davis Thompson is a golfer whose name is littered on the honors board at Sea Island from when he was a decorated collegiate player.
He won the Jones Cup Invitational at the track in 2020 and was runner-up in the same prestigious amateur event on either side in 2019 and 2021.
Since the twenty-four-year-old from Auburn, Alabama turned professional and has been making ripples in the esteemed waters of the PGA Tour. Those ripples were close to being waves at the beginning of 2023 when he was involved in a duel for the American Express with Jon Rahm. It took a while for Thompson to shake off the disappointment from losing but recent weeks have seen the former Georgia Bulldogs elite ball striking back in harmony.
