Valencia CF vs. Atletico Madrid

Game Information

  • When: Saturday, September 16 - 10:15 AM EDT
  • Where: Estadio de Mestalla
  • La Liga Win/Loss Record (2023/24): Valencia L/L/W/W – A Madrid W/D/W

Stats, Odds, & Prediction

  • Valencia were shutout by Atletico 1-0 at the Estadio de Mestalla last term
  • Valencia has scored just 2 goals in 2 home games this season
  • Under 2.5 goals has landed in 50% of Valencia’s 2023/24 La Liga games

Building Back

Following a treacherous 2022/23 campaign where Valencia was close to relegation, placing 16th in the La Liga table was the worst finish in the club’s top-flight tenure since 1987.

Los Che has regularly been one of Spain’s big-six clubs, and Champion’s League football was common. However, times have changed, and with 9th, 13th, and 16th being their previous table finishes of the past three years, a rebuild in Valencia is a must.

Manager Ruben Baraja began this season well with back-to-back wins, but it soon capsized, and now they’ve lost two consecutive games before facing Atletico this weekend – a team they haven’t defeated since 2014.

Tight but Routine

Diego Simeone’s squad dismantled Rayo Vallecano 7-0 last time out. The capital outfit will be confident in collecting another three points as they face an out-of-sorts Valencia squad this Saturday.

With the Champions League around the corner, Simeone may reduce the minutes of his key players at the Mestalla. However, he should still have enough defensive prowess to shut out his opponents, as a tight but routine victory could be on the cards.

Valencia vs. Atletico Madrid Betting Odds & Predictions

Unsurprisingly, the La Liga betting odds have made Atletico a significant favorite. They were unstoppable versus Rayo Vallecano last time out. While a similar scoreline isn’t expected, Simeon’s men have substantially more quality to overcome a side in Valencia that’s been disappointing lately.

With a juiced Atletico moneyline, we can look toward the goals market instead. Back the under at one of our top sportsbooks, as Valencia’s home advantage will keep them in the game, but equally won’t be enough to get one past their visitor's defense.

Score Prediction: Valencia 0 – Atletico Madrid 1

SC Freiburg vs. Borussia Dortmund

Game Information

  • When: Saturday, September 16 - 09:30 AM EDT
  • Where: Europa-Park Stadion
  • Bundesliga Win/Loss Record (2023/24): Freiburg L/W/W – Dortmund D/D/W

Stats, Odds, & Prediction

  • 16 goals were scored in the previous 3 meetings between Freiburg and Dortmund
  • Freiburg conceded 5 goals to Stuttgart last time out

Healing Old Wounds

Freiburg headed to the international break following a 5-0 hammering thanks to Stuttgart as they embarrassingly conceded 3 goals within 19 minutes of play. But still, only Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen have collected more points than Christian Streich’s men this term, and they’re hoping to find that pre-Stuttgart form this weekend.

Looking at trends from now to last season, Freiburg has impressively stayed undefeated in 17 consecutive Bundesliga meetings at home, and they impressively finished the 2022/23 campaign with the fifth-best home record alongside the second-best defensive stats.

Slow Start

After losing out on the Bundesliga title in heartbreaking fashion last term – leading most of the 2022/23 season before surrendering the title to enemies Bayern Munich – Borussia Dortmund were expected to begin this campaign on fire.

Unfortunately, they’ve faltered so impressed thus far, with just one win from three games, as head coach Edin Terzic still hunts for confidence from his men.

However, Dortmund is still unbeaten in 11 consecutive Bundesliga meetings dating back to last term, with just one loss coming from their previous 22 domestic fixtures.

Freiburg vs. Borussia Dortmund Betting Odds & Predictions

The Bundesliga betting odds have placed Dortmund as the betting favorites, but these two squads have delivered thrilling encounters in recent years, and the goals market looks more tempting.

We expect a high-scoring affair as both teams look to return to the win column. And with a combined 16 goals netted in the previous three encounters between these sides alone, they hit the over 3.5 goals at plus money to seek out some incredible betting value.

Score Prediction: Freiburg 2 – Borussia Dortmund 3
