No matter how chilly the Great White North might be, nothing will prevent the Ultimate Fighting Championship from bringing the heat with an action-packed evening of octagon violence in Edmonton this weekend. And, of course, I’m here to supplement your UFC parlay betting needs with the perfect parlay selections.
Below are two of my favorite moneyline selections from the UFC Edmonton fight card. After thoroughly analyzing these UFC odds and betting markets, I believe they present the perfect pairing for this week’s edition of the ‘Punching Parlay.’

Barriault: The Story So Far
With two consecutive losses inside the UFC octagon, it’s been a rough 2024 for Marc-Andre Barriault. Fortunately, he’s presented with the best playground to position himself back into the win column on Saturday, as he’ll return home to Canadian soil, where the Quebec native will have that added boost and adrenaline rush.
We must also stress the level of competition MAB has faced this year; two top sluggers, Chris Curtis, and Joe Pyfer, are no walks in the park, and there’s no denying his weekend opposition isn’t comparable to those men regarding skill set levels.

Stoltzfus: The Story So Far
We can highlight how MAB has suffered setbacks recently, but Dustin Stoltzfus’s UFC tenure has been significantly worse. The Pennsylvania native has won just 2 of his 7 appearances to date, and consistency is a clear red flag: He hasn’t won two consecutive fights since 2019 when competing in the MMA regionals.
You can’t help but think Stoltzfus is one or two losses away from losing his place on the UFC roster, and this will make him a dangerous man. Offensive wrestling will certainly be his path to victory, but whether or not he out-muscle the Barriault is a different story.

UFC Edmonton Barriault vs. Stoltzfus: Skillset Breakdown
As mentioned, Stoltzfus will likely enter UFC Edmonton with a wrestling-heavy game plan. Now, Barriault does show a 67% takedown defense rate, which isn’t perfect. Still, understand that the figure has been skewed by an ultra-talented grappling whizz in Anthony Hernandez, and for the most part, MAB hasn’t shown serious wrestling or grappling deficiencies.
Stoltzfus’ grappling upside doesn’t outweigh his downsides, and even should he find success in taking Barriault down early, he won’t have the cardio to achieve this for 15 minutes. Suppose there’s one clear positive regarding Barriault. In that case, it’s that he can bring the heat in round two or three, and the fact that Stoltzfus has been stopped by KO/TKO or submission in 4 of his 5 UFC losses, it wouldn’t be surprising to see a potent finisher in MAB take this fight inside the distance.
Barriault Moneyline Reasoning
With more power, a physical advantage, greater durability, and the Canadian crowd in tow, it feels stupid not to back Barriault in this spot. He’s facing a frail fighter who’s displayed cardio concerns, so as he puts the pressure, I don’t expect much kickback. The available odds at the top sportsbooks favor Barriault at -210, a price point perfect for our parlay’s first leg.

Mike Malott vs. Trevin Giles

Malott: The Story So Far
Canadian MMA fans had real hope for Mike Malott after he entered the UFC and cleaned up back-to-back opponents inside the distance. He was one fight shy of shooting up the rankings, but a veteran in Neil Magny wasn’t about to be his stepping stone.
In a bounce-back spot and a return to Canadian shores, is Malott capable of reinstating the hype? Trevin Giles is no easy out, but the athleticism and grappling of this Ontario representative can never be overlooked.

Giles: The Story So Far
Trevin Giles isn’t a world beater by any means, but he’s a journeyman who’s collected a 7-6 UFC record and is arguably just as challenging as Malott’s last opponent, Magny.
That said, Giles has lost 4 of his previous 6 UFC bouts. While he unquestionably owns an experience advantage in this matchup, he’s hardly the fighter you’d comfortably put your money behind at this stage of his career.

UFC Edmonton Malott vs. Giles: Skillset Breakdown
This isn’t the first time Malott and Giles have competed against one another in combat sports. They actually had a grappling bout in 2022, and you got it: the black belt from Canadia displayed his superior athleticism and grappling prowess. No, he didn’t win via submission, but Giles spent most of the fight being outclassed by Malott’s much more talented grappler.
Of course, this isn’t a grappling contest, but it did show us how easily Malott could control Giles on the ground, should he be willing to opt for a similar route. Giles would have more success in the striking realm than in grounded positions. Still, the straight right and jabs he loves to probe so much won’t be significant enough to prevent Malott from also testing himself in kickboxing situations where he’ll deliver the more damaging blows.
Malott Moneyline Reasoning
After watching Malott completely frail in the third round versus Magny due to exhaustion, concerns about his cardio are naturally present. However, he hasn’t shown questionable fight IQ, and we must assume that his time off between that fight has been spent perfecting his gas tank across three rounds. The available odds favor Malott at -265, and I cannot argue with this line. I see a clear grappling advantage for the hometown favorite. In contrast, Giles is an average all-rounder whose weaknesses have already been exposed by the same fighter, albeit under different circumstances.
With overwhelming Canadian support on home soil, alongside the confidence of knowing he can out-grapple Giles, we’ll finalize this week’s punching parlay with the Mike Malott moneyline.
