UFC Vegas 77 Holm vs. Silva: Tale of the Tape
Holly “The Preacher's Daughter” Holm
Behind a 15-6-0 pro-MMA record, Holly Holm has been competing among the UFC’s elite for most of her career. Fourteen of her 20 pro bouts were contested under the UFC banner, and despite her age of 41, she hasn’t displayed signs of slowing down, as “The Preacher's Daughter” comfortably sits as the No.2-ranked bantamweight.
The experience under Holms’ belt makes her one of the most challenging opponents for any woman in the UFC. She didn’t hold the most extensive title reign as a former champion with zero successful defenses. However, her resume over the previous eight years has consistently involved the world's top-five female fighters.
Holm's Combat Sports Accomplishments
- UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion (One time; former)
- UFC Fight of the Night (Two times)
- UFC Performance of the Night (Two times)
- Legacy FC Women’s Bantamweight Champion (One time; first)
- 16 title defenses in three weight classes as a pro boxer

Mayra Bueno “Sheetara” Silva
Formerly a Chute Boxe Diego Lima gym member, Mayra Bueno Silva has since moved from flyweight to bantamweight, joined American Top Team, and collected a 3-fight win streak during this transitional period.
With only four years of experience on the UFC roster, she notably struggled for consistency at 125 lbs with a 2-2 record. But at the tender age of 31, the growth and evolution of Silva have played out before our eyes as she’s breached the bantamweight top-10-rankings and could be a handful of victories away from title contention.
Silva's Combat Sports Accomplishments

- UFC Fight of the Night (Two times)
- BMMA Vacant Bantamweight Champion (One time)

UFC Vegas 77 Skillset Analysis: Styles Make Fights
There’s a lot to like about Silva’s style. Her Muay Thai style of striking delivers beautiful push kicks, effortless switching of stances, and an unpredictable range of strikes from low strikes to the body and head.
Despite owning a professional boxing and kickboxing background, Holm’s diversity in the octagon is noteworthy. We’ve watched her dominate in striking battles and win contests with her offensive wrestling/grappling.
The 10-year age gap is a glaring concern for Holm. Still, it’s difficult to envision Silva finding her typical combinations as she’ll surrender a reach advantage versus a striker that’s excellent at range. Holm will keep her on the outside, win those battles, and dictate when the distance is closed.
And when/if the distance is closed, Holm’s clinch and takedown game will likely be superior. Silva hasn’t faced this level of opposition, and I expect it to become apparent in Saturday’s main event.
Holm Moneyline: The UFC Vegas 77 Best Bet Formula
The current odds at the best US sportsbooks have made Holm a slight betting favorite, and I respect the current price.
Point fighting is Holm’s bread and butter, and she’s only been stopped inside the distance by Amanda Nunes and Miesha Tate – two former champions. There won’t be a juiced favorite come fight night because Holm’s age does play a factor. However, this presents a great betting opportunity as there’s still some fight left in the aging veteran, and I don’t believe Silva is the opponent to ring the retirement alarm bells for Holm.
