- Location: UFC Apex

Taylor Lapilus vs. Farid Basharat
UFC Vegas 84 Bantamweight Bout
Lapilus: The Story So Far
Taylor Lapilus achieved a record of 3 wins and 1 loss during his initial stint with the UFC but was subsequently released in 2016. He earned victory in eight out of his following nine matches, thus inflicting Caolan Loughran’s inaugural professional loss upon his return to the Octagon.
Lupilus’ Stats:
- Lapilus Pro MMA Record: 19-3-0
- Lapilus Knockout Wins: 4
- Lapilus Submission Wins: 6
Basharat: The Story So Far
Farid Basharat earned a contract with the UFC after dominating Allan Begosso on the Contender Series, after his success on the European circuit. He won unanimously over Da’Mon Blackshear, earning his first points on the scoreboard. Following that, he secured his maiden UFC victory by executing a first-round arm-triangle choke on Kleydson Rodrigues.
Basharat’s Stats:
- Basharat Pro MMA Record: 11-0-0
- Basharat Knockout Wins: 1
- Basharat Submission Wins: 6
UFC Vegas 84 Lapilus vs. Basharat: Skillset Breakdown
It’s no secret that Lapilus will want to engage in a striking battle for 15 straight minutes. Behind a long frame and excellent takedown defense, he can often implement such a game plan.
With Basharat, he shines in almost every aspect of the sport. Amazing offensive wrestling, sweet striking, and cardio that excels in every round.
Basharat Moneyline Reasoning
While Lapilus is a proven entity in the realm of defending takedowns, he hasn’t faced the blast double and chain wrestling of one Jarid Basharat. The undefeated Afghan has displayed signs of greatness thus far, and I expect his opponent to be the perfect step up in competition to propel him to the next level.
UFC Vegas 84 Punching Parlay Leg 1: Farid Basharat ML (-275) at BetOnline
Marcus McGhee vs. Gaston Bolanos
UFC Vegas 84 Bantamweight Bout
McGhee: The Story So Far
McGhee had a successful first season in 2023, securing two victories by stoppage over Journey Newson and JP Buys. This extended his winning run to four and solidified his reputation as a notable contender in the 135-pound weight class.
McGhee’s Stats:
- McGhee Pro MMA Record: 8-1-0
- McGhee Knockout Wins: 7
- McGhee Submission Wins: 1
Bolanos: The Story So Far
Bolanos, an experienced fighter in combat sports who stems from a kickboxing background, showed superior effort and skill in his match against Aaron Phillips in April, resulting in a victory in his first appearance for the organization and his second consecutive win overall.
Bolano’s Stats:
- Bolanos Pro MMA Record: 7-3-0
- Bolanos Knockout Wins: 6
- Bolanos Submission Wins: 0
UFC Vegas 84 McGhee vs. Bolanos: Skillset Breakdown
Watching Bolanos give up momentum to Aaron Phillips – one of the least talented 135 lb fighters in the UFC – is all I needed to push in favor of McGhee in this matchup. Sure, he’s a good striker, but he’s no world-beater, and McGhee is an incredibly diverse martial artist with the power to put anyone lights out.
Should the American decide to wrestle, it’ll be a hellish night for the former Bellator man, and no matter how much Sean Selby and the UFC love fighters with a striking background, these one-dimensional guys struggle more often than not.
McGhee Moneyline Reasoning
McGhee performs admirably in the octagon, displaying exceptional skill, and this cannot be ignored with the bargain price BetOnline is offering (-214) compared to other sportsbooks.
He possesses impressive power and speed and has exceptional situational awareness, effectively anticipating oncoming attacks and skillfully controlling the gap between himself and his opponents.
Although I recognize that defeating JP Buys in hand-to-hand combat is not a significant achievement, I am prepared to declare McGhee genuinely talented. Given his proficiency and Bolanos’ erratic performances of the past, I anticipate McGhee delivering a powerful right-hand blow to incapacitate Bolanos before the midpoint of the match.
