The Ultimate Fighting Championship is back in Vegas for a fun-filled night of octagon wars as Gilbert Burns and Sean Brady compete in the main event. As always, I’m back to supplement your UFC parlay betting needs.

Below, you’ll find two of my favorite picks from the UFC Vegas 97 fight card, and I’ve concluded that these UFC odds and betting lines are worth coupling together for this weekend’s event; continue reading to find the best MMA parlay value from top sportsbooks on Saturday night.

UFC Vegas 97 Information

Isaac Dulgarian vs. Brendon Marotte

UFC Vegas 97 Featherweight Bout

Dulgarian: The Story So Far

Featherweight newcomer Isaac Dulgarian beat the brakes off Francis Marshall in his UFC, thus adding a sixth straight win and stoppage to his pro-MMA resume. Then, the genius matchmakers decided to pit two of their top upcoming talents against one another instead of building their prospects.

Christian Rodriguez handed Dulgarian his first career loss last time out, but I still believe it should’ve been the opposite. Yes, I did wager on the loser (no bias, honest). As far as prosperous talent goes, Dulgarian is one of the brightest, and he will prove it this weekend.

  • Dulgarian Pro MMA Record: 6-1-0
  • Dulgarian Knockout Wins: 4
  • Dulgarian Submission Wins: 2

Marotte: The Story So Far

I don’t believe Brendon Marotte is prepared for the UFC’s level of competition. This was evidenced when he made a short-notice debut against Terrance McKinney and was taken out within 20 seconds.

The UFC must hate Marotte because they aren’t making his life easy. Without beating around the bush, the knockout power he displayed on the regional scene won’t be good enough here, especially now that another violent and uber-talented finisher is put in front of him.

  • Marotte Pro MMA Record: 8-2-0
  • Marotte Knockout Wins: 5
  • Marotte Submission Wins: 1

UFC Vegas 97 Dulgarian vs. Marotte: Skillset Breakdown

With a wrestling background and slick striking skills that boast serious knockout power, Dulgarian will dictate where this fight takes place. When you have such control in the octagon, it’s your fight to lose, and it would seem that sportsbooks have recognized this to an extreme.

Under 1.5 Rounds Reasoning

The available UFC odds favor Dulgarian with a -2500 moneyline price. This isn’t just one of the most lopsided prices at UFC Vegas 97, but one of the largest ML prices of 2024.

Such a price doesn’t leave much up to the imagination, but it does tell us that this fight won’t be close. It’s not a question of when but how!? With the toolbox to knock out his opponent just as much as submit him, Dulgarian will batter his foe senselessly and do it quickly.

It’s a lamb-to-the-slaughter situation where the promotion gets their prospect back on track. To date, all six of Dulgarian’s wins came inside the first round, and now, with a lower-level opponent returning from a 20-second knockout loss, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see how this fight will play out.

UFC Parlay Leg 1: Under 1.5 Rounds (-350) at BetOnline

Andre Petroski vs. Dylan Budka

UFC Vegas 97 Middleweight Bout

Petroski: The Story So Far

Three years, eight fights, and six wins… It hasn’t been the worst start for Renzo Gracie’s Philadelphia product, Andre Petroski. After recently suffering the first two-fight losing skid of his career, he returned to the win column with a dominant showing over Josh Fremd four weeks ago.

Wasting no time, Petroski is riding the high and is back in the octagon to prove he belongs. We could argue that Dylan Budka is one of the weakest opponents he’s faced to date, so we shouldn’t expect a gift from the sportsbook on this one.

  • Petroski Pro MMA Record: 11-3-0
  • Petroski Knockout Wins: 4
  • Petroski Submission Wins: 4

Dylan Budka: The Story So Far

There’s nothing worse than making it to the big stage and stumbling in the worst way possible. Unfortunately for Dylan Budka, this is precisely what happened, as Cesar Almeida beat Dana White’s Contender Series alum with some vicious elbows and strikes on the ground.

Was it the nerves of octagon jitters that got to Budka in his debut? We’ll find out this Saturday. However, similar to Marotte, the UFC isn’t doing him any favors with an experienced opponent like Petroski, as the 24-year-old won’t have endless opportunities to prove his worth.

  • Budka Pro MMA Record: 7-3-0
  • Budka Knockout Wins: 1
  • Budka Submission Wins: 2

UFC Vegas 97 Petroski vs. Budka: Skillset Breakdown

What I noticed about Budka’s flaws during his debut defeat to Almeida was the inability to prevent the takedowns. This is a huge red flag now that he’s faced with a strong and burly opponent such as Petroski, who has previously dragged significantly more dangerous foes to the ground.

Petroski can find a single leg, cage wrestle, and ground opponents, but more importantly, he can be vicious on the mat. Fifty percent of his UFC wins came by submission or ground strikes, a factor that doesn’t bode well for a green fighter who was just dominated on the floor.

Petroski Moneyline Reasoning

Budka isn’t a complete novice on the ground, and his amateur career boasted several impressive jiu-jitsu displays. However, Petroski has wrestled since the age of four. After college wrestling, he fell in love with BJJ and is currently a brown belt under the Gracies. This is levels above what Budka is capable of, and I envision him getting molly-whopped in grounded positions again.

The available UFC odds favor Petroski, which is no surprise. He’ll be the more physically imposing fighter, and eventually, he’ll overwhelm Budka via wrestling and grappling and potentially find a stoppage win.
