This week’s Valero Texas Open is the final stop before the first major championship of the year and a final chance for many of the top players to fine tune their games.

However, the Texas Open is a prestigious event dating back to 1922, and the TPC San Antonio always sets a fair test of a player’s skills with past form often fundamental to a player’s chances.

Craig Edwards @EdwardsTips has the best bets and full preview to help you cash in before betting at top sportsbooks.

Valero Texas Open

April 3 – 6, 2025 at TPC San Antonio (Oaks Course)

Course Notes

  • TPC San Antonio, the Oaks Course
  • Designer – Greg Norman in 2010
  • Par 72, 7438 yards
  • Long and straight off the tee so total driving can be a strong stat to use
  • Poa Trivialis overseeded greens
  • Often a windy test on the exposed terrain, so controlling ball flight can be a huge ingredient, and indeed that looks the case currently on the look ahead weather forecast.

Previous Valero Texas Open Winners

Can Corey make it three?

Yes, at Bookmakers Review, our golf betting expert Craig Edwards believes Corey Conners can win a hat trick of the Valero Texas Open this week.

The thirty-three-year-old Canadian is in a stellar period of form to coincide with his attempt to win his third Texas Open arriving on the back of three top 10 finishes.

Amazingly, Conners’ only two PGA tour titles and professional wins are here at the TPC San Antonio, and with those happy memories to enable his endorphins could be perfect for his hand to eye co-ordination to a peak this week.

With several top players in the field looking to tune up for next week’s Masters, Conners’ price has been buoyed nicely to (+1800) with BMR best sportsbook Bovada.

There can be little doubt that Corey Conners is a banker pick for the place markets this week, so we are adding a selection for top 10 along with our confident outright bet this week.

Hodges and Stevens our final selections

There are many course specialists to home in on this week. Charley Hoffman is historically the Daddy here over the last twenty years.

But, for tips, we are going to look at some of the more recent lovers of golf at TPC San Antonio.

It would be no surprise if Bud Cauley features prominently here on recent and past course form, but for our final spot, it came down to a coin toss between Lee Hodges and Sam Stevens.

I couldn’t decide, so let’s tip both and examine why.

Hodges is One to Watch

Lee Hodges caught the eye last week after a few weeks off the PGA Tour with a solid effort to shake off any rust in his short game.

Combine that with how superbly he performed here when he finished 6th to Corey Conners a couple of years ago after a poor opening round of 74, there is a bet to be taken.

Prior to Lee Hodges’s time off after the Phoenix Open, he had two top 10 finishes in five starts to begin the year promisingly, so last week’s 11th place finish was encouragement to bet him to improve again this week

Runner-Up No More?

Sam Stevens like our other two selections, featured prominently in the 2023 renewal when he finished runner-up to Conners.

As readers and followers might remember, we were on Conners and Stevens chased him home brilliantly, and lost nothing in defeat.

It is a surprise that Stevens is still a maiden, but his record here was boosted further last year with a 14th place finish.

Interestingly, Stevens’ best finish this season was runner up in the Farmers Insurance Open, another event where long and straight driving is a huge positive like TP San Antonio.
