Phoenix Open Previous Champions
Make Sure You Don’t Knapp on Jake
This week’s WM Phoenix Open looks perfect for Jake Knapp on several levels.
Long hitters with great short games have always flourished at TPC Scottsdale and that is Knapp’s modus operandi. Last year he arrived in Phoenix in fine form when finishing 28th on debut and once again, Knapp arrives in good form having re-found that sort of form at the same time of year.
Week by week there has been improvement from the thirty-year-old Californian this year. Last week’s finishing position was much better than the bare result after Knapp dropped several places during the final round at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am having been in the top 10 for the opening 54-holes.
The icing on the cake for a bet on Jake Knapp is that he lives close to the course and therefore will be able to sleep in his own bed, something not to be sneezed at, over a long season. He has been quoted as saying he views the Stadium Course at the TPC Scottsdale as his home track, and he could quickly become a fan favorite and receive local support from those rowdy galleries.
BMR’s best sportsbook BetOnline has a great range of place markets to bet Jake Knapp this week and the one that makes the most appeal is the top 20 market combined with a speculative smaller wager on a long shot win.

Rickie Won’t Fowl up the Phoenix
Former Phoenix champion Rickie Fowler is trending back to form and it is beginning to look inevitable that he will be back in the winner’s circle soon.
So why not at the Phoenix Open? A PGA tournament that has a rich history of multiple champions and big names spanning back decades.
That illustrious roll of honour of previous winners includes Phil Mickelson, Mark Calcavecchia, Arnold Palmer, and Gene Littler, who have won three Phoenix Opens, while Hideki Matsuyama, Brooks Koepka, Johnny Miller, Ben Hogan, Byron Nelson, and world no.1 Scottie Scheffler are the marquee names that have won twice.
The thirty-six-year-old Californian had a lack lustre in 2024 apart from ending the year promisingly at the Zozo Championship in Japan with a 4th place finish.
In 2025 he has wasted no time building on that effort with an impressive American Express on his yearly debut followed by a respectable week at Pebble Beach which sets Fowler up nicely for a week that historically suits his game.
To illustrate that TPC Scottsdale suits Fowler, he has accumulated an impressive plethora of form, with four other top 10s, having been an ever present at the Phoenix Open since 2009. I recommend betting on Rickie Fowler to win his second Phoenix Open.
