Normally pitchers and catchers would be reporting around now. I am one to be geeked to start the season but than lose interest fairly quickly until the playoffs start. MLB to me is the toughest sport to capp. I played in a fantasy league one year for MLB but is was more like a job than a hobby with having to be so active with the pick-ups and starting line-ups. Much respect to those out there that are able to do it on a daily basis.

Years ago when I was a machinists we would have a 13 run pool where it would only be hit a few times a year. We would all put up $5 or 10 bucks a week and get a random team from each league. You had the same 2 teams all season. There would be nice size pots. Now a days with terrible pitching there are big run totals every night it seems.

Were you a fan growing up or card collector? Most my relatives were die hard listen to the Phillies every night on tv/radio. Growing up early 80s with those teams they had and seeing pitchers like Steve Carlton or opposing pitchers like Nolan Ryan it was easy to fall in love with the sport of baseball.

Funny story. I was watching a movie with the kids Sunday before the SB and the movie brought up the "fvck face" Ripken fleer error card. Had forgotten all about it.

i never got into card collecting, looking back now, boy i wish i did, but in the 80"s and early 90's with all the pitchers in atl, randy johnson in seattle and we can go on and on with the great pitchers of that time, i like those days better than the baseball today.

Agree. Baseball needs to do something. There are just to many teams. Teams should have to be competitive as well and spend the same. I love how soccer brings up clubs and regulates down.

I was trying to come up with a marti type bet style last year for MLB because quite honestly I love betting on it but am just terrible at it year after year so why the hell not try something new. I ended up ditching the idea before starting.

There had been one bet I liked to make every year just blindly betting that did well for me in the past. That had been betting against teams in their next series after playing in Colorado. Thought about instead of betting the series just Martying the the faded team. So if Dodgers played a series in Colorado than bet on the team Dodgers are playing next and just keep Martying them. I think I was going to do it than seen a team go on a HUGE win streak last year and scraped idea. I do think there is value in fading the team leaving Colorado the next series as similar with teams leaving cities like Miami. Hopefully MLB will come to an agreement and we can get the season started.

Baseball and hockey are my favorites to watch, I'm more traditional so I don't like the overtime rules to put runners on base to start extra innings, I like how baseball has no salary cap and can see free market value of players being paid.

I collected baseball and hockey cards before, but not now since older.

I'd be keeping track of spring training too, would be watching Toronto closely hoping they'll get even better this season, pretty sad we lost 2 key players in Toronto already...

I really enjoy baseball but as was mentioned earlier, capping it is tough and after 6-8 weeks it becomes tedious. During 2020 covid period, I was very into Taiwan baseball (the only thing going at the time). Carolinakid turned me on to the overs in that league and we raked in a lot of wins.

I liked watching baseball too but to stream the Taiwan baseball games I had to get up at 3-4 in the morning. It started to become less "fun" about then...
