BMR BEST BET THREAD - August 17th, 2023

Post your strongest bet of the day. You can use any sport you want, all types of straight wagers accepted, just make it clear.

1. You may play money lines, but only between -300 and +300
2. Scoring is as follows; -110 is risking 1.10 to win 1.00 and risking +110 is risking 1.00 to win 1.10
3. Post the following information:
   Date
   Your record and +/- units
   The play, line, the odds (Use American Odds, not Decimal)
   The book
4. For MLB wagers, both listed pitchers must start in order for your play to be valid unless stated "Action" for the game.
5. For Soccer and Tennis plays: List the date, time, the opponent and how draws and retirements are to be graded.
6. Please indicate if the wager is a 2-way or 3-way bet for sports that offer them (NHL, Soccer, etc...)
7. Plays must be posted before the official start time.
8. If the odds posted with a play appear to be in error (i.e. significantly differs from the line found on BMR odds), an average of the "big" 4 books (BM, Heritage, BOL, 5Dimes) will be used to determine the applicable
9. 
   
10. line to apply to the play.
11. No Parlays/Teasers/Live bets - Wagers on Quarters, Halfs, Periods are acceptable as long as they can be confirmed independently on BMR Odds page.
12. Do not edit your post or it will be graded as a -330 loss. If you omit something (e.g. the book), you may add a new post indicating that information as long as it is before the event starts. The play and the odds cannot be changed once posted. Contest participants must follow more stringent posting guidelines.

*NO FUTURE WAGERS ALLOWED - Plays must have final results on the day posted*

Damn I have a NCAAF already for 8-26 & love the number. Was hoping we can change the format for football plays this year allowing contesters to post picks up to a week prior to kickoff.

I had a number of games move on me against the number last year waiting to post the pick. @Tanko what are your thoughts and also I would like the opinions of the best bet community to chime in if they have time to do so.

I think if you bet a line at a different number than the number that is currently posted at on game day you should be able to post the number that you bet it at.

Well, the only way to prove that is post a screenshot of your ticket & I can do that, but I don’t expect other members to do that.

I don’t see it happening, kinda defeats the purpose of a daily best that others can look at on a specific date and choose to follow or not at the available lines. The spirit of this thread isn’t to be the top dog, it’s to share picks that are available to all, at least that was the original intention, maybe that’s changed.

You make some legitimate points, but if the bet is posted before hand posters can tail at that very moment if they choose to. I don’t want to cause a conflict in this thread so if anyone is against it, then I don’t want it. You are clearly against it so we can shut this down right now. No problem whatsoever.

I will just post the same number as my bet and whatever odds they are at that time will reflect my pick simple as that no big deal at all. If I have to buy points or sell points to get my number I bet a week earlier, I will hypothetically do that for contest purposes only carry on best bettors 🫡.

The vast majority of bettors make plays same day and the best bet thread was created by Shortstop to allow others to tail and realize the same line. I'm not comfortable deviating from that purpose.

Also, I don't mean to complain like a little biatch but, in addition to what CapPig metnioned, if you post a play more than a day in advance, its going to be a nightmare for me to try and track. If on Monday you post a CFB play for Saturday, I would have to keep a separate running sheet for these type of plays.

Also, to make sure people aren't gaming the lines, I do occasionally spot check people's posts to make sure they are using actual lines being offered. That would be tough to do for plays posted several days in advance.

Yeah you’re right as far as grading those early posted plays that could create an inconvenience for you I’m sure because you have your own system as you do now from day today so I understand. No problem at all I think I brought up this dilemma for me last year lol next year I will make sure I don’t bring this up anymore.
