Always get YOUR number. Not the number they steer you towards. Know what you're looking for and if it does get offered, I guess take it.

Overall - I agree.

Only possible use I can see is someone betting big and locking up a profit vs absorbing all the risk and possibility of losing despite having an advantage at one point (basically opposite of insurance in blackjack where you bet knowing the house holds a significant advantage and are hoping to avoid an automatic loss).

For recreational gambler/small timer though - it’s not an advantage and you’re basically accepting shorter odds. Never a smart play - only reason that they should consider is if they are on tail end of a big parlay.
