Georgia Football Staffer Has Reportedly Been Arrested

The staff member is former Bulldogs player Jarvis Jones.

“Jarvis Jones was arrested Friday night by Athens-Clarke County police for reckless driving and speeding/maximum limits. He was booked at Athens-Clarke County Jail at 11:26 p.m. and released an hour later on a $2,400 bond. Maximum limits typically means more than 20 miles per hour over the speed limit," Chip Towers reported.

This is the latest in what has been a long line of offseason arrests for Kirby Smart's program.

When i saw the thread headlines, I thought DUI. Speeding ticket (albeit a big one) shouldn't get him fired like a DUI or other arrest would.

Besides he was probably making a food run for Coach Smart and didn't want it to get cold.

After an offseason in which 14 Georgia players have been either cited or arrested for driving violations, plus the deaths of offensive lineman Devin Willock and staffer Chandler LeCroy, Smart has faced questions all year about his team's driving issues.

On Monday, Smart briefly mentioned Jones' arrest, saying he can't comment on it:

“There will be internal discipline. It’s a personal matter,” Smart said. “I can’t really comment any more on it.”
