Couldn't have said it better myself. Most of these books use GeoComply plugin which basically does everything possible to detect you're using a VPN and can even detect GPS spoofing applications. https://www.geocomply.com/products/geocomply-core/

VPN Services and their IP addresses are well known, it would be trivial for the sportsbooks to detect you're using a VPN. Don't think the books and regulators haven't thought about how to counter this. They're all over it.
