They're contract has been up since I think April and they've been negotiating with the big houses...MGM, Caesers, Wynn...something like 18 properties at stake.

In September 95% of the Culinary and Bartenders Unions voted to autrhorize a strike, cirty wide. They haven't yet, but now set a strike date of next Friday, the 10th.

We're talking about 35,000 workers, but I think 60,000 statewide, represented by some of the most powerful unions in the country.

F1 race is Nov 18th, but there's a whole week run up to it. We're talking a mass influx of the Vegas crowd at premium prices.

The pressure is on to complete the largest contract increase sine 1991.

The Union is urging customers to not go to Vegas if they strike.

This is crazy.

And this Union is a representation of all casino employees?

No this is just the Culinary and bartenders union, but it's almost everyone.

This will incloude guest room attendance, bell men, laundry as well as cooks and servers.

It's a shit ton of employees for 18 properties across the strip.

Ok gotcha

Any idea what their requests are?

The biggest increases since they started this in 1991.

They have made some ground, and have a greed on a few things, but negotions are ongoing.

Higher pay is basically the big thing, and that could include benefits, etc.

And recuced hours.

Not sure of other details.

They say Vegas room rates have risen 95% percent while there has been an 11% decrease in resort industry jobs since 2019.

This forces workers to work more, but aren't getting a piece of profit increase.

It's not like they haven't been warning.

Just the other week the did a non strike info picket and blocked the strip...lol.
Traffic was already horrible that day and that just made it worse. Thankfully they only blocked one lane but even at that it was bad. Hopefully they can strike a deal before the F1 race

Caeser's CEO Thomas Reeg can't say if there will be a contract... "next week, a couple of weeks from now, or a month from now. But we are in dialogue constantly with the union and have further meetings this week."...

Under all that pressure he seems so casual.

They must have been working on a contigency plan.

Driving through Vegas a couple weeks ago it’s crazy everything they’ve done for f1.

can’t even see the Bellagio fountains from the strip.

Liberty Media (F1 owner) spent $80 million on road upgrades and during upgrading the went to the City Council and said "many of these are permanent upgrades, split the 80 with us and give us $40 million."

City Council was like "what? We don't have that kind of money."

Liberty says "oh, this is just a starting point of negotiations, what do you have?"

LMAO

That was months ago and I have no idea what came of those "negotiations"

Then there was the F1 shakedown of all clubs, restaurants, and views of the strip. F1 taking over.

They're holding an event on a public road, but blocking the view of said road. Unprecedented in Vegas.

Check out this website, showing the course and virtual drive through.

The track is counter clockwise and the turns are numbered in order. There are some hairpin turns out there.

The virtual run through is pretty cool, check it out...
