MLB Scheduling - Always Amazes Me (KC and STL not playing today)

How can the MLB have a schedule for teams that leaves out a weekend day? KC and STL do not play today.

The largest draws for teams are on Friday nights thru Sunday and yet they have these two teams off today. WTH? I've seen this once before and I've also recently seen teams with Fridays off.

Why would they do this? Off days should be Monday-Thursday to maxmimize gate receipts.

Can someone offer a valid explanation?

Imagine if all of the Networks decided to stop paying so much to these leagues

All of the outrageous money they are paying these athletes would end
