If I'm a Nats fan it was worth it. Who ever saw them winning it all? That series was epic.
They should have let him walk after the series. A waste of a quarter-billion dollars on a pitcher with a history of major injuries.

He did pick a great stage to have the best two weeks of his career. Can’t fault him for taking their money

Do you guys remember when he started in 2010? He was supposed to be the 2nd coming of Sandy Koufax or Cy Young. He did have very respectable numbers after the early injuries but never performed to the level everyone expected.

Granted he helped them win a WS but most thought he'd be one of the best ever.

yes. Was supposed to be the next big thing but was always injured

Didn’t he get drafted and then not sign with someone for a year because he was a Drew R client?

nationals eased him into the big leagues with pitch counts and he still busted out, lots of hype

I think they should of as well but honestly the owner was like what? 94? Maybe he poo pooed it cuz the guy helped win him a title and wanted to reward him. The Pandemic hit afterward. Def a bad contract but MLB is crazy like that. The Pujols contract with LAA, Look what the Giants were going to give Correa?

Pujols/Cabrera contracts example of what happens when you guarantee huge crazy money into the early 40s in the post-steroid era when player’s abilities tail off rapidly around 36-37 like they used to before the steroid era.

Crazy thing about the Correra contract is he didn’t even have injury history. The issue was the medical report from an injury he had in the minors and the doctors guessing it wouldn’t age well.
