American football shields and makes special athletes from Middle School on up from all sorts of shitty behavior but suddenly gambling is the one rule we can't break and it's a congressional problem. Maybe we can get a congressional inquiry about driving 140 MPH, the myriad weirdness when it comes to harassment/assault/violence towards women, and whatever you want to call AB, Josh Gordon etc. issues who had like 9 chances each.

One of NFL's most all-time beloved players was accessory to a murder but what gets you banned a year is betting on your teammate to hit a rushing prop from inside team facility.

All theater of course. NFL cares only about what it feels might effect its bottom line....

There should be zero tolerance.

KYC and account opening rules should include questions about competing or even working in a professional sport and should require notification if that status changes.
