Sadly we need to go and put our German Shepherd of 8 years Zeus down. He has developed bone cancer and the past month has been really hard. His back leg is completely gone. He can't even go outside like he used to and he has been suffering. We don't want to see him suffer anymore. He was a wonderful dog and he will be missed 🐾

Sorry for your loss, Bobby.

You're doing the right thing.
I believe so as well. The cancer will not just go away and it will get worse before it gets better. He's still eating, drinking and acting normal it's just that bad leg that's causing him so much pain. He has panic attacks at night and can't get comfortable anymore

Worst thing about having a dog is most of the time you out live them. Always remember that the family gave it an enjoyable loving life and they pass peacefully compared to how they would have died in nature.

I’ve had to do this 4 times myself over the years, you most definitely want to be there for your dog, he would be there for you, it’s stressful enough for them to go to the vet. It’s a straight forward deal once the IV is in, they inject a sleeping drug which acts really fast, then the heart stopping drug, in my experiences it’s a peaceful process that is over in less than a minute. Don’t drag this out if he is suffering, put him to rest, best of luck.
